|Parapara Hydroelectric Scheme Homepage Aquatic Life Assessment.. page 12 contents|
A freshwater fisheries survey of the Parapara River was undertaken on 10 June 2003, to assess the likely effects of a proposed run of the river hydroelectric power scheme between the existing dam and the confluence of Glengyle Creek. A total of eight fish species and two large aquatic macroinvertebrates were detected using electric fishing and spotlighting techniques. Comment has been provided on the likely effects the proposed scheme would have on the freshwater fisheries, and is to be included with any application for resource consents for the proposal.
